The New Year’s Eve Pre-Party at Pacha NYC began with rising progressive house artist Regoton opening the show with a bang before the well known youngins of the DJ industry brought the house down. One after the other, Julian Jordan, Jay Hardway, and finally Martin Garrix closed the night with a two hour set!!
The crowd thought it couldn’t get any better when Martin introduced special surprise guest Ansolo onstage in the middle of his set and he trigger happy pulled on the famous Pacha horn and began throwing dollar bills at the crowd like it was a rap music video. Then he got even sillier and got Julian Jordan and Jay Hardway out on stage and began trading around santa hats and Ansolo’s signature New York Knicks hat just to entertain the crowd (especially the screaming girls) and then they began to go back 4 back!!
We were all treated that night to the almost full lineup for Pier 36 the next day, for just a fraction of the price and in a much more intimate venue. I personally enjoyed being within feet of Martin Garrix and so did everyone around me, whether he played Animals or Virus, the packed nightclub as Martin would say, “from the left to the right, from the front to the back”, jumped in unison smushing together to get as close as possible to the incredibly talented young DJ. It was hard to dance but we of course all did anyway and I enjoyed every second of it.
It was a great show and the best part was that despite how mad it got at Pacha the show the next day at Pier 36 with Oliver Heldens and Ansolo on the lineup as well would for sure be bigger and badder.
