Mala Luna Music Festival will mark the next endeavor for ScoreMore Shows, a Texas-based music promoter group that began booking concerts in 2009. ScoreMore now routes tours through nine markets in the Southwest, including Dallas, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, El Paso, San Marcos, and more, producing more than 150 club shows per year, not including its festival properties: JMBLYA in both Dallas and Austin, and its partnership with Neon Desert Music Festival in El Paso. ScoreMore also helped to bring about one of the most successful and sought-after events in SXSW history, The ILLMORE, which concluded in 2016. The Austin-based group now regularly books shows with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean, Chance the Rapper, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and more who have grown from playing shows at 100-person bars to 10,000+ arenas.
In an effort to give back and show appreciation to the surrounding San Antonio community, Mala Luna Music Festival is donating a portion of the proceeds from each ticket sold to Network for Young Artists (NYA), a 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides affordable classes in voice, guitar, percussion, keyboard, and dance for San Antonio-area youth ages 4-20. Additionally, in a continued effort to support San Antonio’s up-and-coming music scene, two NYA students, Chloe Delgado and Chase Sauer, have been selected to perform in front of their hometown crowd at Mala Luna Music Festival. This partnership with NYA helps to further ScoreMore Shows’ ongoing commitment to supporting underserved students by providing incentives and culturally relevant opportunities at its various shows and festivals.
The Mala Luna Music Festival team brings a truly unique festival experience to the San Antonio area and larger South Texas region. The festival will pay homage to the local culture and the communities’ annual Diá de los Muertos celebration through a unique and highly-curated selection of stellar music acts set to perform over two days, along with multiple live art installations and numerous local food vendors and merchants. Stay tuned as additional event details, including onsite art installations, weekend activities, and more will be announced in the weeks ahead.
Mala Luna Music Festival would like to thank all of the 2016 partners and sponsors that have helped to make this festival possible, including Univision’s 98.5 The Beat (KBBT-FM), Lone Star Beer, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Wingstop, San Antonio Water System, Papa John’s Pizza, Metro PCS, and Red Bull.
