LONDON – Not usually one to head west of Southbank, getting to check out a new brunch destination before it becomes fully booked is always a coup. Whether you’re fueling up for a weekend or winding down from a night out, LIV‘s bright decor and fresh fare will hit the spot.

We ordered juices to pair up with our mains: my friend’s LIV Purple, a beetroot carrot and apple concoction, boosted the simplicity of the Za’atar eggs (which aren’t stated on their online menu.) I opted for the LIV Green coconut water, cucumber and mint elixir to balance out the bold flavours of the King Prawn Omelette, which I’m definitely now inspired to try to replicate! An incredible Asian slaw that packs a punch is a great topper to the fluffy omelette housing prawns below. I did bring to the attention of the waitress that perhaps the prawns could’ve used one more minute on the pan, surely just a soft launch hiccup.

Personally, a flat white feels mandatory to conclude a brunch. Portions are hearty, but if you’ve got room to spare, the banana bread is a sweet, tasty treat. Next time, I’ll save room to have it in all its Banoffee mascarpone glory, otherwise the Ricotta Hotcakes with maple for an autumn afternoon well fed.

It’s important to mention that though Belgravia can feel uninviting to outsiders, LIV’s ambiance and service were warm and welcoming. Next time I plan a stroll through Sloane Square or visit the Saatchi Gallery, I’ll have to pop in for lunch or at least a drink in the downstairs bar. Maybe two, just to be safe.

About LIV Belgravia

LIV is Damien Monley’s first foray into the British market, after his success with several high-profile food and drink business in Australia, including the influential all-day Flat White Cafe in Sydney’s upmarket Woollahra. Following that lead, and led by Damien, whose honest, generous style of cooking is all about making the most of the best local ingredients and inspired by a healthy bias, LIV promises a relaxed approach in both ambiance and the food on the plate. Dinner service will be added later this year with music creating a groovy laid-back atmosphere.
