Following a run successful releases on MIR Music over the past two years, hotly-tipped Ukrainian artist Katy Rise now looks to open up her 2023 tally with the announcement of her stunning new Light House EP. Out now, exclusively via Beatport the two-part Light House EP marks Katy Rise’s eagerly anticipated debut outing on the esteemed Italian label, and comes complete with a show-stopping remix from iconic Greek producer Thodoris Triantafillou.

Known for her deep, melodic soundscapes and euphoric atmospheres, Katy’s unique treatment across the package is wonderfully hypnotic, as she engages the listener from the very first kickdrum. The title track is a truly special record, striking the sweet spot between euphoria and dancefloor energy, as airy pads and stirring waves of melody stamp the record with a truly timeless feel.

We sat down with Katy to find out more!

Hello Katy, and thanks for taking the time to chat to us. How are you and how are you feeling about 2023?

Hello! Thank you so much, its a pleasure for me. I’m good, and with music always better. The year has just started, but it’s already feels like there is no time left. A lot of plans made for 2023, I hope to do everything. But, I like this feeling, feeling fully inspired and ready for it.

Massive congratulations on your huge new EP on Natura Viva. Can you talk to us through the release and what fans can expect when it drops?

Thank you so much! I’m grateful for your support. It’s really a special release for me, as it’s atmosphere sounds a bit different, with more euphoric feelings.

‘Light House’ represents hope to be able to see that there is light, despite all the darkness in the world. There is light in each of us, we just need to find it. For me it took time but I finally found light in producing this track. I’m very happy to share my ‘Light House’ with all of you!”

And with a special Remix from Thodoris Triantafillou, it sounds in a different music light. I’m really exited about it.

Going back to your formative years, can you explain when and how you fell in love with electronic music? Was there a particular moment when the penny dropped?

Music always has been a huge part of my life. Ever since I was a teenager I was interested in electronic music while my friends did not share same views on it. Until the age of 17, I could only dream of visiting clubs or festivals. I was constantly studying, but in between lessons, I always had a player with me. At home we had a large library with foreign literature, and the same large collection, at that time, of vinyl records and cassettes that my father was collected. And when I first heard ‘A State of Trance’(ASOT) Radio Show , hosted by Armin Van Buuren it was magnificent feeling. Trance music definetly made a huge impact on me and gave me love for electronic music.

What music (or artists) have played the biggest role in shaping you as an artist?

In 2016 I started my DJ career, I used to play and learn different genres from House to Techno. But mostly I could recognized myself just in Progressive House & Melodic Techno, and same genres artists are much closer to me.

How would you describe your sound, and why did you choose to pursue your particular brand electronic music over other styles? What is it about the genre that you love so much?

There are so many different genres nowadays, to find yourself and your sound you definetly have to experiment a lot, both in DJing and producing. I like to explore music and combine electronic sounds with melodic atmospheres.

Looking forwards, do you have any specific goals or objectives you would like to achieve as an artist over the next few years?

This year I am more focused on making and releasing new music, a lot of original tracks and remixes already waiting for their releases. New DJ mixes coming on my Youtube channel from the most unique places and touring to the new countries.

About the future, to be honest, I even have my own list for this and it is pretty large. But in short, successfully to share my music with the world, to play on the biggest festivals such as Tomorrowland, Burning Man, etc. and to record a live performance in one of the most unique places in the World together with Cercle. I wish to have a chance to play in a Printworks London, but they made announcement about closing this year, but for sure it will be a different place. And in order for everyhting conceived to come true in the near future, I need to work as hard as possible.

If you could put on your own show anywhere in the world, where would it be and who would you have joined you on the lineup?

In 2020, I became a co-founder of the organizational musical movement “NATURE BEAT”, where I am participating in organizing musical events and festivals. And of course, I am planing to bring “NATURE BEAT” not somewhere, but all around the world. To welcome big artist names and new talented upcoming artists. For sure, it will be in some of the most unique places, with the same interesting names. Believe me, you will hear about it!

Where can we see you perform over the coming months? Any big tours planned?

I’m Ukrainian and I’m currectly based in Turkey. My next upcoming gigs starts here and continue in the Middle East and Europe, soon to be announced.

Finally, do you have any other projects coming up this year that you’d like to share with us?

For sure! In the beginning of April you can listen my special DJ mix for Octopus Radio Show on Insomniac Radio!

Right after the release of ‘Light House’ on Natura Viva, I have ‘Time Machine’ coming out on Sunexplosion, and special remix coming. I’ve also prepared a collaboration with a talented Ukrainian artist and I can’t wait to share with you more!

Thank you Katy, we wish you all the best for 2023 and beyond!

Thank you ‘We Own The Nite’ for this interview, it was a big pleasure. Wish you all the best!
