In a terrific New Noise debut, surging producers Velvo and Zayy (Pictured) bring the feels with the dark, future soul ballad “Sober (feat. Nico Blue).”
Hailing from Minneapolis, the forward-thinking Velvo has been on the rise for a year. He released his debut single “Juju” at the beginning of 2016, a track that NEST HQ described as “an unapologetic blend of hardstyle, rave, trap, and moombah, all wrapped up with an overall dark and apocalyptic atmosphere.” He took his enigmatic production skills to a VNDL collaborative bootleg remix of Anger Dimas and South Central’s “Drop That Low.” The edit put him on the map, with Jack Ü (Diplo & Skrillex) playing the remix in front of thousands at Reading Festival 2016, and additional support coming from DJ Snake, Adventure Club and PARTY FAVOR.
Throwing down on “Sober” with Velvo are rising artists Zayy and Nico Blue. Following last year’s collaboration with BH and VNDL on an impressive remix of NGHTMRE’s “Holding On to Me,” Zayy brings his first original track “Sober” to New Noise. Adding vocals to the track is Nico Blue, who dropped his first official single titled “With You” a little over a year ago.
New Noise is Dim Mak’s new music discovery imprint that focuses on cutting edge sounds from burgeoning artists across the genre spectrum. Launched in 2010, New Noise got its start as a compilation series highlighting fresh faces handpicked by Steve Aoki and crew. By 2015, the platform evolved into a bi-weekly, free-download model based on singles. New Noise’s current incarnation is a copyright free model that allows the budding community of Twitch gamers and amateur YouTube content creators to use New Noise music in their videos and live streams sans purchase or fees, all in exchange for linking back to the artists and their music.
