LOCO & JAM are Northern Irish based Techno duo made up of Lloyd Reid and James Peoples. Formed in 2007 they have went from strength to strength playing clubs and festivals worldwide.

2009 was the first break for Loco & Jam as it seen their remix of Henry Von – Propaganda on Fergies Rekluse imprint made its way on to Carl Cox’s Space Ibiza compilation and was also featured as his Global Warmer Track Of The Week on his Global Radio Show which had over 10 Million listeners worldwide.

Throughout their 10 year rise the guys have been killing the beatport Techno charts and now have a healthy CV with a list of Productions and Remixes on major labels such as Christian Smiths Tronic Music, Coyu’s Suara, Sian’s Octopus Recordings, Chus & Ceballos Stereo Productions, Monika Kruse’s Terminal M, Green Velvet’s Relief Records, Marco Bailey’s MB Elektronics, Mark Knight’s Toolroom Records to name but a few.

Fresh off the back of a huge remix for Ron Costa – Koi on There Is A Light, we caught up with Loco & Jam to find out more…

Hey James & Lloyd, thanks for taking the time out of your day to chat to us. How are you both doing?

We are both doing great thank. Finally happy to see things starting to move again.

Please can you introduce yourself quickly to our WOTN readers?

We are Loco & Jam, Northern Irish based Techno producers who has released on labels such as Drumcode, Tronic, Terminal M, Relief Records, Octopus and more!

Congratulations on the release of your new remix for Ron Costa – Koi on There Is A Light. Tell us about the release…

Yeah so we chose the track Koi by Ron Costa to Remix due to the amazing Hip Hop style vocal “Hollars Poppin Collars” We felt we could make a festival type banger out of it and that Vocal would help push it to a wider audience. I think we achieved a banger for sure!

How did you connect with The Archer / There Is A Light? Is this your first release on the label?

It was actually Sian from Octopus connected us and offered us a few tracks to remix for the label.. We chose Koi and very happy we did!

Yes its our first release on the label.

You’ve released on some of the most notable techno imprints over the past few years. What, would you say, are some of your biggest career highlights?

Obviously Drumcode would be up there but also Remixing Green Velvet’s Flash on his own label Relief records… To be honest we have had loads of highlights so don’t really like singling out labels.. We are just happy to have been able to release on all the labels we have released on regular.

What’s the rave scene like in Northern Ireland? And when you were growing up?

The rave scene here is actually thriving right now! The  young generation coming through now cant’t get enough of Techno compared to when i was growing up the Techno scene here was very small..

Any local producers we should keep our eyes on?

Yeah there is 2 young lads from my town i think are gonna blow up.. Mac N Dan. They release on T78s label Auketone, Spektre’s label Respekt and Deborah De Luca’s label… Their sound is a lot harder than what we play now but they are producing very good music.

Also Richie Blacker from Belfast who releases on Ajunabeats and keep an eye out for a young lad called Brady whos also releasing on Nervous records and Aukotone.

What do you like to do when you’re not making music?

We both like to travel and just chill with our families… Of coarse we are both big foodies so love trying new cuisines from different places we travel.

Lastly, what does the rest of the year look like for you, both in terms of touring and releases?

We just confirmed our first tour since March 2020 and we are off to India next month for 7 shows over 2 weekends.

Regards releases we have this remix now out on TIAL, 2 releases on Eli Brown’s Arcane which has been getting heavy support from Jospeh Capriati, Rebuke, Christian Smith to name but a few and an EP on Octopus.

We feel our next releases are the strongest we have put out yet and excited to share them with you guys.

Thanks guys!
