Cassy (Catherine Britton) who’ll be performing at Electric Zoo’s “Sunday School” on August 30th just released her mix of the revered compilation series, simply titled, fabric 71. The fabric series showcases established and emerging names. Each mix is tailored by the DJ who decides what to include in their mix, with no restrictions on what to play or how to play it. Each DJ is responsible for their own concepts. To accompany the release, Cassy did a 30 minute promo mix via MixCloud, below.
fabric 71: Cassy is a portrait of Ms. Britton’s boundless music ability and her knack for selecting phenomenal tracks; thanks to her experience as a seasoned vinyl crate digger, while working in Berlin’s famed Hard Wax record store. Born in London to a Caribbean father and Austrian mother, Cassy’s childhood was saturated with music, which included tons of classical music and jazz. She even attended her first concert with dear ol’ Dad to go see George Benson.
“The tracks on the mix all represent what I love about electronic music, and what I love playing. Simply, each track is individually beautiful – there is not much more to add. All of the producers are special in their own way. The project has come at a perfect time for me in terms of me being able to communicate where I am at artistically. I have aimed to get back to the roots of what this should be about for every DJ – namely playing records for the love of playing records – and not because of anything else.” – Cassy
