We’re not sure what we should be more excited for; a music festival or attending summer camp! Either way, what a weekend ahead of us filled with a variety of camp out activities as well as funky dance music by amazingly talented artists. After a summer long series of successful Dirtybird BBQ’s, the Dirtybird team is firing up the grills and picking up some extra firewood one more time this summer for the three day long festival this upcoming weekend. Dirtybird Campout is the first annual for their label, celebrating ten years since its establishment in 2005. To celebrate, they’ve made sure to handle all necessary camping festivities to ensure everybody in attendance is reminiscent of a childhood summer camp and can let loose and tune in to their inner child. Activities such as potato sack races, tug of war, tie-dying, s’mores, and storytelling are a minuscule amount of events planned for the weekend, not to mention the chance to be deemed Dirtybird Campout champions of 2015. That’s right, attendees have the opportunity to rekindle some team spirit and compete for a chance to be crowned festival champion. Arguably, no other dance festival we have ever attended has seemed to offer as many camp friendly adventures that Dirtybird promises us for this weekend, and we couldn’t be any more anxious and eager to jump in on some horseshoe action, or better yet; the slip n slide! It is no surprise to us that Dirtybird wanted to hold a festival that was a bit unique in comparison to some other, more mainstream festivals, that artists from the label have also been involved with.

Dirtybird has solidified its own sound in the dance music scene and seems as though they do not plan on swaying or changing their ways, not that they have a need to. Some of the artists from the label we’re most excited to see are Justin Jay, Justin Martin, Kill Frenzy and of course, Claude Vonstroke. His real name is Barclay Crenshaw, and you can catch “Barclay Crenshaw” at the late night lodge from 5-6am Saturday morning!

Accompanying the Dirtybird family for the weekend are artists such as Lee Foss and Eprom, who we feel both bring a hip hop flare to the table and will be the perfect addition to the weekend. What is there not to love about this festival already? Oh, and not to mention the venue is incredibly beautiful. Layers are definitely necessary, but that’s what the camp fires are for. After all, it is a camp out! There’s a slight change of rain in the forecast Saturday night into Sunday morning, come prepared and make sure you bring: jacket, boots, umbrella, tarps for your tent/shade structures, extra blankets, extra socks. Keep the positive vibes flowing by bringing a positive and can-do attitudes. Whether we will be laughing at the comedy show Saturday night, joining in on sing-a-long s’mores Friday at 2 am, or heading to the Birdhouse at noon for the flag pole raising ceremony; we cannot even fathom the amount of good vibes, infinite fun and incredibly good music I will be indulging in at the Dirtybird Campout this weekend at Oak Canyon Park in Silverado, CA. The list, by the way, goes on and on. With all this being said, campers have one unbelievably magical weekend ahead of them!
