With 2016 serving as another stellar benchmark for MK, the DJ / Producer kicks off the new year with the unveiling of his debut Beats 1 radio residency
MK will serve as host and curator of Area10 Radio, a bi-weekly radio show launching January 20th on Apple Music’s global radio station. Area10 Radio will delve into classic cuts from MK and never before heard collaborations and remixes, as well as the musician’s picks for essential house music listening. When tuning in, audiences can also expect a number of surprise guests on Area10 Radio, running the gambit from heavy-hitting legends to MK’s rising new favorites.
Accompanying the news of Area10 Radio comes the announcement of MK’s forthcoming 2017 North American Tour. Joined by Dirtybird favorite Shiba San, the pair will make their way across the United States and Canada this March and April, with noted appearances at Output in Brooklyn, Kingdom in Austin, DC’s Echostage and more to be announced.
MK was born and grew up in Detroit, a city that has been labeled as the true breeding ground of house and techno music. Possessing a longstanding career and immaculate discography, MK has served as the mastermind behind some of dance music’s most well-known remixes including Storm Queen’s “Look Right Through,” Nightcrawlers’ “Push The Feeling On,” and “My Head Is A Jungle” by Wanklemut & Emma Louise. The producer has since remixed Lana Del Rey, Sam Smith, Rudimental, Katy B, Bastille, London Grammar, Rufus Du Sol, Aurora, Sia & Angel Haze, Pharrell & Paloma Faith, and Hot Natured to name but a few, while his single “Piece of Me” with Becky Hill has hit Silver plaque status and his latest hit “My Love 4 U” featuring A*M*E is quickly climbing the charts. Last year, MK relaunched his Area10 label with various singles as well as branded events and festival stages, both of which have featured top artists and DJs including The Martinez Brothers, Camelphat, Hot Since 82, KC Lights, Idris Elba, Groove Armada, Shadowchild and more.
