After last year’s highly successful sold-out event, producers of the BUKU Music + Art Project are proud to announce that the festival will return to New Orleans for its third year with a wide-ranging roster of acclaimed performers, plus an array of visual art installations and local food vendors. BUKU 2014 will be held in the heart of New Orleans, just minutes from the French Quarter, at Blaine Kern’s Mardi Gras World on March 21st and 22nd, 2014. Tickets to the 18+ event, including special VIP and travel packages, are currently on sale at www.thebukuproject.com/tickets.
Over 45 artists have been announced to perform across four unique & intimate stages set along the Mississippi River, including: the main outdoor Power Plant Stage with an abandoned early 20th Century power plant looming in the backdrop; the electronic-focused Float Den Stage situated in a gigantic Mardi Gras float manufacturing warehouse; the sleek indoor Ballroom Stage; and the new Back Alley Stage with views of the city’s iconic Crescent City Connection bridge.
“Unique, progressive, quirky, and intimate – that’s the type of event BUKU is,” says Winter Circle Productions and BUKU co-founder Dante DiPasquale. “It’s fun to see such an eclectic and artistic crowd energized by the riverside vibe, appreciating the insane amount of music we jam onto the grounds, and taking advantage of the accessibility of such a small yet bountiful party in the heart of one of the coolest cities in the world. “Buku is more than a festival, it’s an embodiment of New Orleans,” says HUKA Entertainment co-founder and CEO A.J. Niland. “It can be a bit weird and a bit over the top, but always amazing. And just like the city, it keeps getting better every year.”
The 2014 festival will bring together some of today’s most sought-after acts spanning the electronic, hip-hop, rock, pop and indie genres, including: psychedelic alternative rock gods The Flaming Lips; French house producer and arguably largest DJ in the world David Guetta; English singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding; Grammy-nominated EDM innovator Kaskade; superstar DJ and producer Zedd; Electro-funk duoChromeo; Texas-bred, post-rock musicians Explosions in the Sky; rap legends Bone Thugs-n-Harmony; indie rock groups Phantogram, Wavves, and Miami Horror; and a fresh collection of hip-hop sensations including Tyler, The Creator, Pusha T, Schoolboy Q, and Danny Brown. For the official lineup announcement video, see below, and stay tuned for several additional performers to be announced after the New Year.
