Getting behind the decks for this month’s episode of Musical Freedom Radio is New York-based producer Zaxx. Since the inception of the mix series, the label headed by Tiësto has invited an assortment of artists to put together an hour-long set of tracks that are outside the norm of what they would typically play at a club or festival. Highlights from the series include Oliver Heldens’ old school disco set, The Chainsmokers hitting us with the indie vibes, and Dallas K playing all the classic songs he grew up on. The mix is available now for free download exclusively on Musical Freedom’s Soundcloud page.
Zaxx says, “I chose this kind of music because it’s usually what I listen to in my downtime or when I’m just relaxing. It’s a mixture of ambient, downtempo, vaporwave, and a few other styles. I love these tracks because they’re filled with emotion and can make you feel many different kinds of ways. These songs make me feel inspired, relaxed, happy or sad, all at the same time.”
Spinning high energy sets with a blend of old and new sounds, the 18-year-old NYC native proves to have unfailing musicality beyond his years. ZAXX has already garnered a plethora of headlining nightclub sets and coveted festival placement, rapidly becoming one of the new top names to watch in the festival circuit. Playing Sunset Music Festival, Something Wonderful and UME festivals this year while awaiting Chasing Summer in Calgary this July as well as his second Electric Zoo Festival performance coming up in September, ZAXX is taking North America by storm. His official remix of The Chainsmokers’ “Roses” has gained over 7 million plays on Spotify since its November 2015 release. Previous collaborative releases on Musical Freedom include “Alpha” alongside Riggi & Piros as well as his free original production “Deeper” in collaboration with KSHMR.
