YELLOW CLAW has released the music video for their trap single “City on Lockdown,” which features a collaboration with rappers Juicy J and Lil Debbie.
The video was shot in Los Angeles and was directed by Frank Telli. For the visual, Telli brilliantly incorporated some interesting animation between the film footage. The song is from YELLOW CLAW’s current album LOS AMSTERDAM (out now on Mad Decent).
LOS AMSTERDAM is the follow up to the producer/DJ pair’s 2015 debut, Blood For Mercy, which hit #1 on Billboard’s Heat Seekers Chart and Top/Dance Electronic Albums Chart and scored an Edison Award – the Dutch equivalent of a GRAMMY. It spawned the mega-smash “In My Room” with DJ Mustard (feat. Ty Dolla $ign, Tyga), which notched over 104 million Spotify streams.
The distance between Amsterdam and Los Angeles spans 5,550 miles. Despite the mileage apart, the cities share quite a bit in common, remaining creative hotbeds for their respective continents. Both locations fortified the foundation of YELLOW CLAW’s second full-length album. For the first time, the Dutch electronic duo – Jim Aasgier and Nizzle – enjoyed an extended stay in the City of Angels in order to write and record before heading back to Amsterdam to fine-tune their compositions throughout 2016. The process mirrors the musicians’ distinct sonic alchemy, fusing elements of European dancefloor panache and gritty American trap seamlessly. LOS AMSTERDAM is comprised of stellar collaborations with fellow artists: Juicy J, Quavo of Migos, Lil Debbie, Moski, Jonna Fraser, Rochelle, Tinie Tempah and Cesqeaux. The project also features the Billboard TOP 10 Dance Chart hit “Good Day” featuring DJ Snake & Elliphant.
