Alt-rock trio The Man Who released the official video for “Natural Villain,” a track from their new EP, Bet On You. Shooting in black and white – and adding splashes of red – director ThatGoodGraphic TM (Lo Lo, Bülow) pays homage to film noir classics of yesteryear. As The Man Who ventures into the night, the band members find themselves in a high-stakes game of cards and fall victim to a shady character abetted by a femme fatale waitress.

The Toronto-based band has been supporting BANNERS on his North American tour. The second leg kicks off on November 28 at The Mansion in Kingston, ON. Tickets are on sale now at http://themanwhoband.com.

Bet On You (Virgin Records) – produced mainly by Tawgs Salter (USS, Lights) and mixed by Mark “Spike” Stent (Paul McCartney, Coldplay, Chvrches) – is now available for download / streaming HERE. Clash premiered the title track, “Bet On You,” praising the band’s “crisp songwriting with a blackened edge” while Hillydilly extolled the “singable hooks and perfect, grandiose tones” of “This High.” Elicit Magazine praised the “smart, cutting lyricism and all the growl of ‘Natural Villain.’” Music Connection said, “Bristling with a sense of foreboding, the track showcases the hypnotic contrast at the heart of their music – an infinite tension between bright and dark, raw vulnerability and quiet mystique.”

Comprising David Walsh (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Chad Walsh (bass/electric guitar, keyboards, background vocals) and Frank Goerz (drums), The Man Who takes its name from a Ralph Waldo Emerson quote, “The world makes way for the man who knows where he’s going.” The Man Who traces its roots back to 2015, when a tour took Toronto-based Chad Walsh to Newfoundland, where he re-connected with his cousin, David Walsh, who was also a musician. The two began a long-distance collaboration, experimenting with vintage synthesizers and throwback hip-hop drum loops. David eventually moved to Toronto, where the two cousins recruited drummer Frank Goerz. Across all of their songs, The Man Who has already racked up more than 15 million global streams. The band has an average of 250,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
