Today’s new additions to Sónar Barcelona 2017: AJ Tracey, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Arca (live) & Jesse Kanda (av), Beautiful Swimmers, Benji B, Carl Craigs’s Versus Synthesizer Ensemble, Christian Tiger School, Clark, Daphni & Hunee, DJ Shadow, Evian Christ, Giggs, Heidi, HVOB, Jon Hopkins (dj), Julián Mayorga, Lena Willkens, Little Dragon, Lunice, Marcel Dettmann & Dr Rubinstein, Marco Carola, Marie Davidson, Nico Mulhy, Optimo, Overmono, Pan Daijing, Prins Thomas, River Tiber, Roosevelt, RP Boo, Seth Troxler & Tiga, Soulwax, Suzanne Ciani, T Q D, Valgeir Sigurdsson, Vitalic – ODC live and Ylia.

Sónar continues to expand this year’s program with the inclusion of two of today’s most relevant and creative musicians, Californian Anderson .Paak and Venezuelan Arca, live with Jesse Kanda AV. Anderson .Paak, one of the most breath-taking artists in today’s hip hop and R&B music scene, has been nominated for two Grammys for his excellent and universally praised album “Malibu”, which he will present live with his band, The Free Nationals. Additionally, Sónar has been chosen by the category-defying musician and producer Arca, as his only worldwide festival performance this year, where he will present his forthcoming new material live with Jesse Kanda’s presence and visuals, which will further help to redefine him as a complex and evolving artist.

Also among the new artist additions is the long-awaited return of DJ Shadow 6 years since his last album. His highly visual show will combine new tracks from the recently released “The Mountain Will Fall”, alongside material from his legendary ground-breaking 20-year-old debut album “Endtroducing …” which turned 20 this year. Belgian Dewaele brothers (2manydjs) band, Soulwax, will present their first album in more than a decade, in a live show featuring seven musicians (among them 3 drummers) and an onstage recreation of their Deewee recording studio.

Four other established producers will present their new material at the festival: British artist Clark, a mainstay of the Warp label, with a new album and a visual show in which two performers will accompany him; Frenchman Vitalic, presenting his recent album “Odissey”, with a spectacular stage show design; and the young but eminent Evian Christ and Lunice, both about to release their much anticipated debut LPs, will stage their prestigious new live shows.

This year Resident Advisor, the world’s leading electronic music site, will return to curate the SonarLab stage—this time on Saturday at Sónar by Night. The program includes the exclusive premiere of Carl Craig’s Versus Synthesizer Ensemble, with the Detroit icon performing alongside a group of elite musicians including the pianist Francesco Tristano. There are also two exceptional back-to-back DJ pairings—Daphni (AKA Dan Snaith of Caribou) & Hunee, and Marcel Dettmann & Dr Rubinstein—plus UK garage trio t q d, Truss and Tessela as Overmono, and cult US duo Beautiful Swimmers.

These and a multitude of other artists will join previously announced shows from Justice, Nicolas Jaar, Moderat, Eric Prydz, De La Soul, Nina Kraviz y Nosaj Thing & Daito Manabe, among others. The full program will be finalized in the coming weeks, featuring more than 130 performances distributed across 8 stages at Sónar by Day and Sónar by Night.

Not to mention, Red Bull Music Academy will once again take over the SonarDôme stage at Sónar by Day, showcasing exceptional talent from around the world. Highlights include performances by synth pioneer Suzanne Ciani and footwork godfather RP Boo among emerging artists who have passed through Academy classrooms including: Marie Davidson, River Tiber, Julian Mayorga, Christian Tiger School and Pan Daijing.

This Thursday, January 26, Sónar+D launches the Open Call for an exceptional opportunity to participate in this year’s Startup Garden powered by MIGRATION, a unique opportunity for 30 selected startups specializing in the creative industries – music, video, art, design, hardware and virtual reality – to look for a Series A round (200,000 to 3,000,000 Euros) investment.

All ticket types – Full Passes, VIP Passes and Day and Night Passes -for both Sónar and Sónar+D- are now available at  www.sonar.es
