Almost exactly one year on from the release of her remix for Dave Wincent’s Fuller EP in 2018, Berlin-based producer and FORM Music favourite Simina Grigoriu now returns to the esteemed French label as she closes out the decade in emphatic fashion with her latest three-part opus, Rocket Fuel.
Out now via FORM Music, Rocket Fuel is Simina Grigoriu’s third full-blown EP on POPOF’s ever-impressive imprint, following the critically-acclaimed release of her Matching Numbers EP in 2015 and the three-part Slush Fund EP in 2017.
The release also comes off the back of Simina’s trippy Mama Ayahuasca extended player on her Kuukou Records imprint, which has been receiving hefty international support ever since its release earlier in November.
Kickstarting this latest package with the aptly-named title track Rocket Fuel, Simina Grigoriu goes all-in from the off, delivering a heady peak-time cut, brimming with thunderous low-end, frenetic drum patterns and dark, industrial samples throughout its heavy, seven-minute duration.
Up next on remix duties, FORM Music label boss POPOF steps up to the plate to offer his own unique interpretation of Grigoriu’s opener, with a huge bassline and twitchy synths providing the backdrop to another exquisite, multi-faceted remix from the Frenchman.
Rounding up the package with the arresting closer Launch Pad, the Kuukou Records head honcho further demonstrates her creative production prowess and studio diligence, as pounding kicks, rumbling bass and loose hi-hats combine to wrap another remarkable EP on POPOF’s FORM Music, and the label’s final outing of the decade.
