Resident Advisor Party at Art Basel w/ Floating Points, Dâm-Funk and The Black Madonna
Art Basel has grown into an international concern. While cutting-edge art and design from across the globe is its main draw, a host of satellite events have started appearing, and now there’s as much reason to visit Miami during the festival for the music and nightlife surrounding Art Basel.
Established in 2001, Resident Advisor is an online music magazine and community platform that’s dedicated to showcasing electronic music, artists and events across the globe. Since being founded we’ve been throwing parties in every corner of the globe. This year Resident Advisor launched In Residence, a series of programme month-long residencies at the greatest nightclubs in the world. It is in that spirit of celebrating nightlife with incredible lineups that Resident Advisor has curated a special event for Art Basel with four of the most in-form artists of 2016.
This year RA is thrilled to bring the party at Art Basel for the very first time. Taking place in the Magic City Warehouse on November 30th, Resident Advisor & guests will be joined by some of the planet’s greatest record selectors for a uniquely intimate session of late-night dancing. Transforming the warehouse for the evening into a space where devoted dancers can lose themselves and meet friends, old and new.
Magic City Warehouse is an intimate warehouse with a spacious courtyard area. For this project Resident Advisor is collaborating with Poplife and PL0T, renowned local promoters known for bringing acts such as Seth Troxler, Nicolas Jaar, DJ Tennis and Bob Moses to Miami. Utilizing our extensive knowledge from 15 years of events, Resident Advisor brings a unique level of production, sound, music and atmosphere never before seen at Art Basel Miami Beach.
First up, Floating Points will dropping by for one of his legendary soul and disco explorations. Hot off the back of his debut album, Elaenia (which was RA’s number one album of 2015) and a live tour, the respected digger will be reaching into the depths of his bag and dusting off rare gems in the way only he can. Stones Throw’s resident synth master, Dâm-Funk, is also set to perform. Since debuting on the label with Toeachizown in 2009, he’s gone on to be a global flag-bearer for vintage funk, collaborating with everyone from Steve Harrington to Snoop Dogg. Last but not least….The Black Madonna. It’s been a whirlwind couple of years for Marea Stamper, who last year debuted at number 37 on Resident Advisor’s yearly Top 100 DJs poll. Starting out in a remote region of Kentucky, and then becoming the talent buyer of the legendary smartbar, she’s now an international festival concern and one of the hardest touring DJs in the business. Resident Advisor couldn’t be happier for her to be gracing their Art Basel debut.
