RBMA Radio returned to Detroit this week for the 10th anniversary of revered electronic music festival Movement, and will celebrate with a weeklong broadcast celebrating the past, present and future of music from the Motor City. In addition to airing some of the best Detroit-centric stories, conversations and studio mixes, the schedule throughout the week will include special programs themed around the city. Broadcasting live from a custom-built studio in downtown Detroit through this Friday, May 27, the weeklong broadcast kicked off this Monday, May 23 with Detroit-focused shows featuring session guitarist and psychedelic sound effects explorer Dennis Coffey; longstanding garage-rock pranksters The Dirtbombs; and Fit Sound boss FIT Siegel. Mondays broadcast also saw the premiere episodes of Counter Intelligence: Detroit which tells the stories behind Detroits top record stores, and the pioneering Detroit labels Interdimensional Transmissions: Live from Detroit. New episodes of both shows will air daily throughout the week.
RBMA Radio will continue to air live interviews and sets by both pioneering artists and fresh new talent throughout the week. The station will also air exclusive features with trailblazing Detroit artists—from funk icon George Clinton and Motown legend Leon Ware to proto-punk rebels Death and rap eccentric Danny Brown.
The weeklong live broadcast will lead into this weekends Movement 2016. RBMA Radio will broadcast selected performances from the Red Bull Music Academy stage from May 28 – 30, including sets from Four Tet, Dâm-Funk, Big Freedia, The Black Madonna and local artists such as Kyle Hall, Amp Fiddler, DJ Godfather and more.
