Icarus “October” Out Now on FFRR Records

Returning after their recent remixes for Bat For Lashes and SG Lewis, Bristol-based production duo Icarus release a brand new track “October, out now on FFRR Records.

Inspired by the sprawling nocturnal vibe of their recent sets at Fabric, “October” takes a different approach from the brothers’ recent FFRR tracks – “Home,” “Don’t Cry Wolf” and “Ride This Train” – by stripping their soundscape back to a deep house essence which ebbs and flows with creative dynamic peaks.

Icarus have already received blog love from Boiler Room, Thump and i-D alongside press support from DJ, Mixmag and Bristol Live. Other influential artists have also recognized their talent, with Kölsch, Lane 8 and Dave Dresden all providing remixes of Icarus’s original tracks.

Icarus’s continuing surfeit of ideas is unsurprising given their background. Both played in bands (Ian on guitar, and Tom on bass) prior to becoming enamored with production and DJing whilst studying music. Tom’s musical interests evolved from alternative rock to a wide spectrum of dance music (DJ Zinc’s Bingo Beats to 31 Records). Ian, meanwhile, was consumed by his older brother’s mixtapes and drum ‘n’ bass auteur LTJ Bukem. Those early influences have evolved with further inspiration sourced from the soundtrack stylings of Cliff Martinez and Hans Zimmer.

Icarus’s debut tour last year features a multitude of highlights including Creamfields, Fabric and The Warehouse Project in Manchester. Their festival dates throughout the summer include Boardmasters, Glass Butter Beach, V and Bestival.
