Directed by Ana Sting and styled by Chloe & Chanelle, the “La Caprichosa” video is a sexy and hilarious tale of Ms Nina auditioning men to be her “papito” (daddy) who she finds through a wild posting ad she puts up in the desert. Both the song and video highlight the infectious combination of reggaeton-inspired beats, quirky humor and sex-positivity for which Ms Nina has become adored across Latin America, North America, Europe and beyond.

Speaking to The FADER about the new song, Ms Nina, real name Jorgelina Andrea, says “My life is always on the road trying to find “that partner”, La Caprichosa talks about that, like sometimes life didn’t give you what you want, so you have to find it! And of course I’m so capricious.”

Today, Ms Nina was also announced as a finalist in the first ever Spotify Awards for “Biggest Increase in Fans: Female Artist.” The event, being held in Mexico City on March 5, is an award show based entirely on user-generated data from Spotify listeners in Mexico.

“La Caprichosa” is Ms Nina’s first new single following her the release of her breakthrough debut mixtape Perreando por Fuera, Llorando por Dentro (Twerking on the Outside, Crying on the Inside) in July 2019 via Mad Decent. Ms Nina’s provocative and humorous debut saw her exploring genres such as romantic reggaeton, Dembow, favela funk and more through a post-internet lens, continuing to flip the script on misogyny and amplifying the female voice, breaking prejudices and stereotypes with her signature sexiness, humor and personality, and garnering international acclaim from Dazed, NPR, The Recording Academy, Remezcla and more.

Soon after the mixtape release, Nina’s track “Tu Sicaria” skyrocketed to over 50 million streams on Spotify alone after being featured in the latest season of Elite — a popular Spanish teen drama Netflix Original series — hitting Viral 50 charts in 20 territories on Spotify (#1 in 4 territories including Mexico), 10 Top 100 charts on Apple Music, was trending on TikTok in October and November, and her YouTube subscribers have more than doubled.

This March, Ms Nina will perform at SXSW Music Festival in Austin, TX and embark on a Latin American Tour including festival dates at including Sneakertopia Fest (Mexico City), Lollapalooza Argentina, Isle of Light Festival (Dominican Republic), will perform at Sonar Festival in Barcelona this June, and more.
