Movement Torino continues to set the bar for European Festivals
Movement Torino has once again surpassed all expectations and set new records. The latest edition of the festival played out on October 31st, 2016 and featured standout sets from techno’s finest talents.
In all, 25,000 people attended during Movement week, with more than 20,000 of them all dancing hard at the main event. This year saw an 8% increase in people from outside the Piedmont region, with 10% more foreigners than ever before coming to check out the show. In all the festival added €5 million to the local economy and once again the European Commission patronage confirmed that Movement is truly unique in terms of its social and environment impact.
Berghain stars Ben Klock and Marcel Dettmann hammered out their muscular grooves and drums for hours, whilst Detroit legends like Jeff Mills and Derrick May reminded us why that original Detroit sound is still so revered.
Contemporary figures like Steve Rachmad and Sven Väth also came correct with their party starting selections and left the thousands of ravers begging for more.
The venues – housed inside the vast Lingotto Fiere exhibition and conference complex – once again impressed, ranging from intimate to more large and industrial spaces, with each of them being fantastically adorned with great light, killer sound and mesmeric production that all added to the occasion.
As well as the main event, there was a fantastic selection of OFF Movement parties, workshops, forums and discussions that looked at many different aspects of electronic music and the wider scene. Now with its sister event in Croatia, Movement really is the foremost underground techno festival organization in all of Europe.
