Upcoming short film “The Realest Real” directed and written by Carrie Brownstein (Portlandia, Sleater-Kinney) for Kenzo will debut the fashion line’s fall/winter look-book. Starring Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon, Natasha Lyonne, Mahershala Ali, Rowan Blanchard, and Laura Harrier, the short film will debut on September 13th at New York Fashion Week.

Providing the soundtrack for “The Realest Real” Los Angeles based producer/DJ Tony Quattro has signed on board to the project to create a completely original score for the film. Besides releasing original singles for labels that include Skrillex’s OWSLA and Buraka Som Sistema label Enchufada, Quattro has also contributed music to Comedy Central hit series Broad City, Amy Poehler Hulu original series Difficult People, and commercials for Adidas and Samsung.

Approached by Broad City music supervisor Matt FX, Quattro was scouted for the gig after Broad City star Abbi Jacobson was told by friend Carrie Brownstein that the music needed a new vision. After signing onto the project, Quattro worked in tandem with Brownstein, who herself has an extensive musical background, to create the films score.

“I’m a huge fan of Portlandia and Carrie’s music, so it was an honor to work so closely with her on this project. She has a really funny email address you’d never guess. It only took a couple rounds of feedback to nail the score, which was crucial because I only had about a week to get it done from start to finish.”
