This year’s Glastonbury Festival was a complete success despite a Brexit hangover, overcast skies and the worst rain and mud for 46 years could diminish the cheerful mood.

The crowds merriment was undeniable as they cheered, cried and danced to headliners Coldplay, Adele and Muse, while also relishing uplifting sets from the Orchestra of Syrian Musicians,Yakumo Orchestra, Disclosure, Aluna George, Years & Years and Beck.

The morning after the EU referendum, Blur’s Damon Albarn put Brexit anxiety into perspective, says Neil McCormick in the Daily Telegraph. He introduced the Orchestra of Syrian Musicians with a simple, passionate speech about the “almost inconceivable deprivation, loss and danger they had suffered just to get together and bring their music to the world”.
