Unveiled to critical acclaim during his headlining Sahara Tent performance at this year’s Coachella, KSHMR releases The Lion Across The Field, the producer’s new EP. Out now on Spinnin’, The Lion Across The Field operates as an original score, serving as a companion piece to a children’s book of the same name crafted by the producer himself.
The story of a young boy’s quest for a mysterious lion, the release features seven new tracks, each thoughtfully crafted while weaving through a series of interludes. Accompanying the release is a twelve-chaptered video series, bringing each song to life through breathtaking animations that take each listener on a visual and sonic journey. Says KSHMR of the release when speaking to Billboard, “The Lion Across The Field is the realization of several things I’ve never done before: writing a kids book, writing an album around a story, and ultimately creating a body of ‘electronic’ music that mostly focuses on real instruments.”
An American born of Kashmiri-Indian descent, KSHMR (pronounced Kashmir) was raised on the traditions of Bollywood films and family trips to his father’s homeland. Merging the sounds of his heritage with electronic music influences, KSHMR would garner a quickly growing fan base through his rich sound and orchestral productions. Releasing successful singles such as “Burn,” “Secrets” and “Wildcard,” the producer’s first solo #1 release on the Beatport charts, the producer also earned the accolade of entering DJ Mag’s Top 100 poll at #23 in 2015, the highest new entry that year.
