Benjamin Nichol Phipps, known professionally as Ben Phipps, is a twenty-six year old music producer hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden. Currently living out of his adopted NYC home, Ben Phipps is at work expanding his creative universe defying previous expectations of his art. His unique style of production draws influence from elements that exists in deep house and mainstream pop music. In June 2015, Ben Phipps launched 14 & 9 Records, an artist imprint which would specialize in the global distribution and promotion of his original records.
With heavy radio support on Sirius XM, synch placements in television and film, and more than forty-million streams across his catalogue – The Ben Phipps project, as well as 14 & 9 Records were off to a solid start.
Phipps latest single “Mrs Mr,” a seductive collaboration with LA-based singer/songwriter Lizzy Land gets reworked by UK-based producer and artist JackLNDN. “This mix was very fun to work on. I really tried to totally switch it up from the original with a completely new tempo and feel. This one is designed to make you move and shake,” shares JackLNDN. Lizzy Land’s vocals continue to soar effortlessly over the bouncy basslines, twinkling melodies and a future-house vibe that gave Ben the perfect new version to put in his DJ sets.
At the moment, Phipps and his team are running a remix contest for “Mrs. Mr” in partnership with the SKIO community. “Every producer wants to write their own dream success story, but the biggest challenge is knowing where to begin. Remix contests can bridge that gap, providing the chance to get noticed by the original artist and their label,” shares SKIO.
The SKIO community has seized the opportunity and has been hard at work taking “Mrs Mr” in new directions. With 2,964 entrants and 301 remixes from producers in 105 countries the number of people interested in collaborating and getting discovered is huge.
