Out now, this latest release sees Jetlag team up with Spaniards Alex Iva, Juan Alcasar and Vitor Bueno for the group’s stunning debut collaboration, Higher Place. We caught up with the guys to find out more…

Hi guys and Welcome to WOTN! Please can you introduce yourself to our WOTN readers?

We are Jetlag Music, a Brazilian electronic music duo, based in Sao Paulo Brazil, we produce since 2012 and have been playing in clubs and festivals around the world since then.

Despite everything that’s going on in the world right now, how has 2021 been for you so far?

We have been trying to find inspiration in the adversities we are all going through. A lot of studio immersion, creating beautiful things for when we are gonna be able to get back to the stage. Of course doing some live streaming shows and delivering from the brands we have sponsorship contracts.

Huge congratulations on your new single Higher Place on Sirup Music. Can you talk us through the release?

Higher Place is a track we did looking forward to where we wanna be when it all ends. We hope to be in a better world, where people are gonna be more concerned about others, our welfare is gonna depend on the welfare of people around you, so this Higher Place is gonna be about caring with other as it was yourself. The mood of the track carries elements of progressive house, our identity , mixed with a strong bassline and our look to what’s gonna be the avant-garde of electronic music.

How did the introduction to EDX and the Sirup team come about?

Our manager Sandro Horta, is one of the managers of EDX in Brazil. He made the contact, and we are very happy because we are huge fans of EDX as artist and producer, as well of Sirup amazing job.

With the majority of the world having been under hefty restrictions over the past twelve months, what have you been doing to keep yourself busy during this period?

We have been understanding how important is to have so much available time to spend at home, with our families, something that was unimaginable 2 years ago. So we are balancing between quality time of joy, creative studio sessions, and developing new activities as sports, reading and so on.

Presuambly you have a lot more time to spend in the studio at the moment. What are your favourite pieces of studio equipment right now?

Right now we are in the mood of exploring a lot Xfer Serum and Ableton Push 2.

Who or what were your biggest musical influences growing up?

A lot of different icons of different styles: Men At Work, Nirvana, Pet Shop Boys, Joy Division, Depeche Mode, Frankie Knuckles, Stardust, Daft Punk.

Top 5 favourite records you love to listen to at home right now?

1- House Arrest – Gorgon City & Sofi Tukker

2- Enough To Believe – Bob Moses (Jamie Jones Remix)

3- Let It Go – Louie Vega & The Martinez Brothers

4- Be Someone – Camelphat & Jake Bugg

5- Hypnotized – Oliver Koletzky

What do you have coming up over the rest of the year? Any new projects or releases you can tell us about?

We have some new productions on the way, we are putting our heart on them! And already starting to think about all the structures of our live shows as visuals, effects, lighting and on because we have the hope to get back on tour this year.

Any final words for our WOTN readers?

Hope to see you guys on the dance floor asap!
