Matt van Toth and Julio Mejia, otherwise known to the world as GTA, have been setting the US alight over the past year with their big, bad, booming productions, but now, they’re taking on Europe as worldwide superstar Rihanna has enlisted the help of the duo on the EU leg of her all-conquering ‘Diamonds World Tour’. The guys will support the Bajan sensation across the continent over the course of the next two months alongside the likes of David Guetta and HAIM.
Having already driven fans into a frenzy at the first few gigs, the guys are set to continue the party at some of the biggest venues on the globe, with the Palau San Jordi, the Stade de France and Twickenham Stadium all set to play host to the tour over the coming weeks.
GTA’s music truly does seem to lie on the cusp of every genre imaginable. Experimenting with the sounds of trap, house, moombathon, electro and even a touch of salsa, the Miami-based mixologists’ only mission is to serve the people with some of the most bombastic and funky tunes out there.
With tracks previously released on the likes of Diplo’s Mad Decent, Afrojack’s Wall Recordings and A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold label to great acclaim, the dynamic duet aren’t slowing down in their quest for to bring the most dynamic sound to the world, as they prepare for further releases this year with Steve Angello’s Size Records and Diplo’s off-shoot project Jeffree’s to name a few.
GTA’s outright refusal to be pigeonholed within a category spawned the now much-celebrated battle cry, “Death to Genres,” and the motto has now taken its name as the title-piece to a special series of episodes that the guys have made, with the latest installment, Europe, created to mark the beginning of their first ever trip to the region awaiting their arrival.
Made up of exclusive GTA productions, VIP edits, bootlegs and promos of upcoming releases, the feature speaks volumes of the guys’ abilities to seamlessly blend forms of music from opposite ends of the spectrum into an hour-long masterpiece. Available for free download at SoundCloud, there really is no reason not to embark on their genre-less journey.
Death to Genres Vol. 2: Europe (Free Download) ENJOY!!!!
