Room Mate Hotels, the designer hotel chain founded and led by Kike Sarasola, continues to roll out its ambitious expansion plan across the world’s main capital cities. Room Mate Alba is the fifth hotel that the chain has opened in Madrid and it’s twenty-seventh in the world. At the end of this year, the chain will open its sixth hotel in the city – Room Mate Rex – on Madrid’s iconic Gran Vía.

Room Mate Alba – Junior Suite

Located in one of the most opulent, renowned historical buildings in the Letras neighborhood, Room Mate Alba preserves the elegance of its original 17th-century features, such as its façade, staircase, and hallway. It is situated on Madrid’s Calle de las Huertas, an area brimming with pedestrians and famous for the literary quotes engraved along its sidewalks. Its welcoming atmosphere, numerous restaurants, and rich history, make this the ideal location for the hotel chain. This neighborhood is also home to Room Mate Alicia, designed by Pascua Ortega and opened in 2006.

Room Mate Alba, designed by interior designer and antique’s dealer Lorenzo Castillo, boasts outstanding facilities and features 80 rooms, which are divided into five categories: standard, superior, penthouse, suite, and deluxe suite. It also features two meeting rooms that are ideal for corporate events and presentations, and that can be opened up to form one large room. The building’s inner courtyard has also been preserved and will host some of the events held at the hotel as well as offer guests a peaceful retreat where they can go to unwind.

Kike Sarasola, CEO and Founder of Room Mate Hotels, said: It’s been more than 12 years since we last opened a new hotel in Madrid. I’m particularly excited about this one because the Letras neighborhood is one of my favorite areas of the city. Working with my good friend Lorenzo Castillo is always a pleasure, and I’m sure that everybody’s going to love Room Mate Alba.”

Lorenzo Castillo commented: “I wanted to respect the original aristocratic feel of the building, but also incorporate a touch of exoticism, a style that was also prevalent at the time, even if the only traces of it in Spain were found in royal palaces or in the stately homes of the nobility closest to the King. Room Mate Alba is a veritable work of art and I’m delighted to continue working with Room Mate.

Following the Room Mate Hotels philosophy that “the best way to travel is by visiting friends”, Alba has the personality of a young classical ballerina, a sophisticated, elegant and sweet girl. She is a veritable muse capable of inspiring anyone. She lives in the Letras neighborhood, where every street is a celebration of culture and art. Everyone knows who Alba is and she never goes unnoticed.

Guests at this new hotel will be able to continue enjoying all the innovative services that make Room Mate – the chain that listens to its clients a Love Brand: breakfast served until midday every day and WiMate, a free Wi-Fi service across the whole city, to name but a few.

With this new opening, the company continues to roll out its international expansion plan, which will see 10 new openings in the next 18 months – including its first beachfront hotel in Mallorca, where preparations are already well underway.
