Port’s remix takes ‘Underwater’ into a new sonic space, transporting the song from the California desert to the famed clubs of Berlin that he calls home.

Port is a member of the heroic German DJ collective Keinemusik alongside Rampa and &ME. Over a decade old, the crew was birthed in Berlin, and Keinemusik immediately established a singular sound that distinguished it in the city’s long dance music lineage, a melodic chugging emotive take on house and techno, with nods to rock and punk sensibilities, that was evidenced on their acclaimed 2017 album You Are Safe.

With humble beginnings in European hip-hop and years spent in underground hardcore and rock scenes, Adam Port brings a unique fusion of elements to his original compositions and remixes – offering renowned works as gritty as they are melodic.

Underwater feels like an obvious remix choice for Adam, as the original’s haunting vocals and dark undertones offer a perfect blueprint to be crafted into an essential late-night club weapon. Port chose to leave the band’s melodies intact, while serving up a new and infectious energy primed for dancefloor introspection.

In the band’s own words, “Adam’s take on Underwater is exactly what we hoped it would be. Dark and clubby, with just the right arc of tension and euphoria. We gotta throw some after parties on this tour so we can play it real loud.”

Further solidifying Underwater’s position as an essential track across the vast worlds of electronica, the remix package appropriately comes with club and dub edits of the original, deeming it a fit for the casual listen or for peak-club-hours.

‘Underwater’ arrived August 10th in the midst of constant noise surrounding the juggernaut of RÜFÜS DU SOL’s touring schedule. The band moves towards three sold-out shows at both Los Angeles’ Shrine Expo Hall and New York’s Terminal 5, forthcoming sell-outs at London’s Printworks and Berlin’s Astra, and a standout Halloween performance at San Diego’s Valley View Casino Center arena. Additional fall dates include sold-out shows at Emo’s in Austin, TX, The Van Buren in Phoenix, Denver’s The Fillmore, and a festival set at Voodoo Music & Arts Experience.

Comprised of members Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George, and James Hunt, RÜFÜS DU SOL occupy the intersection of propulsive indie music and emotive house. They have managed to combine the DIY live aesthetics of rock with the euphoria of classic club culture, creating a sonic realm all their own.

The band’s debut album, ATLAS, reached No. 1 on the Australian charts and reaped Platinum status – successes that were repeated with its follow-up record, Bloom. Released in 2016, Bloom offered such iconic singles as “You Were Right” and “Innerbloom,” and launched RÜFÜS DU SOL on a two-year international tour, playing over 100 sold-out shows across 13 countries.

RÜFÜS DU SOL has spent the past year in Venice, CA, writing and recording their third album, which is largely influenced by the dichotomy of the stark desert landscapes and beautiful coastline of California. It’s a fuller exploration of RÜFÜS DU SOL’s ever-evolving musical spectrum, a deeper dive and a more intimate glimpse into both melancholy and transcendence.
