‘Take Flight’ has been preceded by the critically acclaimed EP ‘Won’t Let You Down’, which is receiving worldwide support from DJs in the clubs and on the radio – Pete Tong made the track ‘Cherry Bomb’ from the EP his “Essential New Tune”. Featuring remixes of Won’t Let You Down’ from Catz ’n Dogz and Paride Saranceni, album track ‘Cherry Bomb’ plus ‘Round In Circles’, the EP’s various tracks saw premieres with Wonderland, Mixmag, Complex, Groove and The Huffington Post. Following on from ‘Won’t Let You Down’, was the second EP ‘Weak/Werk’ which received critical acclaim from the likes of PAPER Magazine and FADER.

Maya is an enigma in today’s music world. On this album – as with all her releases – she has written, produced, engineered, arranged, mixed and performed every track, even designing the artwork herself, from the EP’s to the bespoke limited edition USB Sticks, included in the deluxe album copy. Maya has it all covered.

Opening track ‘Weak’ kicks off the album with sublime soundscapes and low-slung drums, with a stunning visual asset created by The Fashton’s for the ‘Weak’ Single, which creates a high level of intimacy with Maya Jane Coles performing to the camera for the first time. Longtime collaborator Fiona Garden and one half of The Fashtons’ tells us ‘This is Maya letting you in, telling you secrets’. Title track ‘Take Flight’ offers a trip-hop inspired beat with a psychedelic twist.

The album sees guest appearances from acclaimed songwriter Chelou on ‘Darkside’, which is slow, vivid and totally immersive. Long-time collaborator Chelou also appeared on the Nocturnal Sunshine album as vocalist on “Believe”. While ‘We Fell To Earth’ singer Wendy Rae Fowler on ‘A Chemical Affair’ and ‘Misty Morning’ before singer Rachel Butt of GAPS features on ‘Keep Me Warm’, GAPS were signed by Maya who release their debut album via I/AM/ME and produced a collaborative EP in 2014, which led to the inclusion on the album.

From the high octane ‘Passing Me by’ to the visceral ‘Trails’, ‘Take Flight’ offers an eclectic selection of immersive tracks that are certain to excite old and new fans alike, all over the world.

Maya has already experienced a phenomenal year of global gigs including a double header at Coachella (USA) in April, as well as Tomorrowland (Belgium) and UK festivals such as Parklife and Wildlife as well as on going appearances throughout the summer in Ibiza at Ushuaia and Pacha. Maya has also provided support for electronic titans Depeche Mode on the European leg of their tour throughout July and will make many more festivals appearances including SW4 (UK), Creamfields (UK) and Rock in Rio (Brazil) amongst others.

To date Maya has played in over 40 countries worldwide, released mix compilations for DJ Kicks and Fabric Live, been sampled on Nicki Minaj’s mega hit “Truffle Butter” as well as remixing artists from The XX, Bonobo and Little Dragon through to Florence & The Machine, Sam Smith and Ella Fitzgerald.

‘‘Take Flight’ is released on Double CD / Heavy Weight 3 x Vinyl Box Set / USB / Digital plus a limited Deluxe Hardback Book CD format and also be exclusively available via Maya’s artist store.
