This past July 1, thousands of Toronto’s electronic music lovers gathered at The Portlands to ring in Canada’s 150th birthday at Electric Island! The day saw mind-blowing performances by industry heavy-weights including Canadian techno-pioneer Richie Hawtin, who closed off the night backed by a dazzling display of fire works across the city’s skyline. It was a celebration we’ll never forget.

Today, we’re thrilled to announce that the third summer edition; Electric Island Civic Holiday will take place on Monday, August 7 with another colossal line-up. The main stage welcomes the incredibly versatile and energetic Jackmaster. This Glasgow-native is notorious for hashing up the most surprising records – whether it be a forgotten disco track or bumping techno – Jackmaster can pull just about anything from his sleeve. Joining him will be another legend from across the pond – Irish-born Mano Le Tough. The Maeve label owner is a true sound wizard with an impeccable ear for melody, deep emotive basslines,  and live instrumental breaks. After witnessing a Mano Le Tough set, you’ll be left in awe. Bulgarian live-act KiNK also joins the bill. Another name who is known to embrace experimentation, KiNK expertly weaves listeners between house, techno and broken beat to deliver a memorable performance for all. Taking festival-goers into nightfall will be Russian techno vixen Nina Kraviz. Nina’s success is unparalleled — from her successful label Trip (трип), to her mesmerizing performances behind the decks, she is a force to be reckoned with! And let’s not forget our astounding locals — Jonathan Rosa and Toronto’s illustrious duo, Nature of Music will each be on warm-up duty.

The second stage will see Swiss DJ-Producer Deetron. Deetron owes his expert mixing skills to his early days as a Hip-Hop DJ. Strongly influenced by the sound of Detroit, ‘four-to-the-floor’ became his motto and today he’s best known for producing warm techno with the soul of Detroit. We look forward to his Electric Island debut! Joining Deetron will be the forbearer of the modern funk movement- Dâm-Funk! The American DJ-Producer affirms that funk is a way of life, “a feeling of struggle and staying cool through it all.” Toronto house-hold names Greg Gow, Addy and Jeremy Stott will have the honours of warming up festival-goers at the second stage. It’s going to be another sizzling weekend in the city this Civic Holiday.
