The sold out show for Rüfüs Du Sol ensured that the venue of the Chicago Riviera Theatre would be packed on the night of November 11th, bringing promise of an eventful concert and a memorable night. From Australia, this band of three men brought with them artists Dena Amy and Roland Tings who took the stage before the main event.

Dena Amy opened first by spinning tracks that compelled the crowd go with the flow. With hands in the air and feet shuffling, she created an energetic atmosphere that pumped up her spectators. She later reappeared on stage to sing “Hypnotized” with Rufus Du Sol, dropping the jaws of the audience as she tantalized them with her amazing voice. Up next was Roland Tings, who brought a set of mellow beats to the stage. Fans seemed a little disinterested as they were antsy for Rufus Du Sol, but nonetheless, Tings did a great job of staying true to his uniqueness.

The anticipation continued to rise throughout the night with long pauses in between each artist during which the audience could use to appreciate the venue itself. The Rivera stood out with elaborate detail in the ceiling, framework and glistening hanging chandeliers. This accompanied Rufus Du Sol perfectly as their music spoke to the crowd on an intimate level.

With the venue being smaller, the band enjoyed playing songs from their older albums as well as the newest released album, Bloom. Within seconds of taking the stage, screams echoed as the opening song was “Be With You”. The night got even better from there. At one point during the show, every phone light was on and being held in the air, swaying left to right, lighting up the stage and making it glow. You could feel the authenticity of the crowd as each person sang the words with spot-on accuracy. The magic of Friday night was created with not only quality sound and light visuals, but the three performers’ sincere smiles and energy toward their fans. Rufus Du Sol concluded the night with “You Were Right” and left fans souls satisfied.
