On Friday, November 3rd, one of the most well-respected and prominent trailblazers in the dance music scene comes to Los Angeles for a singular journey through the history of techno. Over the past two decades Berlin’s Paul Kalkbrenner has become one of electronic music’s bonafide superstars, filling arenas with his live shows and headlining the world’s major festivals, while only ever following his own musical path.

Prototype is proud to present the US debut of his Back To The Future series, which marks his exploration of the techno and rave music that soundtracked his upbringing in East Berlin in the late 80s and early 90s. Kalkbrenner compiled the three-volume Back To The Future series over several years, researching over 5000 that arrived in Berlin between 1987-1993, before making his own edits to build three unique compositions which he released last year. Downloaded millions of times the overwhelming response ledKalkbrenner to build a show around the concept, channeling the freedom and abandon felt in the abandoned warehouses of East Berlin during this seminal period.

Back to the Future is a rare chance to catch one of electronic music’s true pioneers in an intimate setting, and to step back into the future, to hear the music that shaped not only Berlin’s club culture, but the global techno landscape.
