King of the new school Oliver Heldens teams up with Dutch house legends Chocolate Puma for new track Space Sheep – recently premiered on the 98th episode of Heldens’ acclaimed Heldeep Radio show. Oliver Heldens’ dynamic and youthful approach and Chocolate Puma’s years of expertise and house music heritage is the perfect meeting of minds.
Space Sheep combines a melodic beat with vintage arcade game sounds. An old skool breakbeat chatters away under vocoder FX in the intro before we drop into a warped concoction of melodic electro bassline, spacey resampled synths, skipping percussion and swathes of metallic texture. Imagine early Prodigy meets new skool breaks and electro house and you’re some of the way there. The production quality and aesthetic is just as we’ve come to expect from this trio, at once phat and crisp with so many touches of genius throughout. This track is definitely a winner!
Heldens also recently invited Chocolate Puma to play alongside him at his Oliver Heldens Presents party at Motion in Bristol, UK, continuing their strong relationship. Having just moved into a brand-new studio, you can expect him to keep rolling out the jams and finessing his production techniques even further as the year goes on – as well as inviting Chocolate Puma for some more hot collaborations!
