Under the towering California Redwoods and on the banks of the South Fork Eel River (Mendocino / Humboldt County Line), the forces behind Northern Nights (NNMF), California’s premier electronic dance music festival, The Emerald Cup and Starr Hill Presents (Outside Lands, Bonnaroo, Lockn’) announce their collaboration to produce the 6th Annual Northern Nights Music Festival on the weekend of July 20-22, 2018. Tickets are available online at: www.northernnights.org or can be picked up at the following Mendocino/Humboldt County local retailers: One Log Tree Lounge Dispensary and Area 101.

Since its inception, NNMF has set itself apart with a fresh perspective and a unique approach to festival production that offers attendees a city-meets-country, culturally-fused experience of music, swimming, yoga, cannabis and glamping at one of the world’s most stunning outdoor festival venues, Cook’s Valley Campground on the Humboldt / Mendocino County Line.

In a time when many festivals are shutting their doors at an alarming rate, boutique festivals like Northern Nights and The Emerald Cup are excelling as they offer unique experiences to festivalgoers and music-lovers alike. This past winter, the Northern Nights team spread their wings and flew south to Santa Rosa and successfully produced the Northern Nights stage at The Emerald Cup. Due to the overwhelming success of the event, Northern Nights formed a deeper partnership with The Emerald Cup and Starr Hill Presents to return the favor and bring them into NNMF. These independent powerhouse production companies are coming together to help Northern Nights sustainably grow by enhancing the festival in both production and experience while maintaining the premier boutique camping festival atmosphere that everyone has come to know and love.

This year, NN18 will be celebrating the history and culture of the Emerald Triangle with the new partnership and looks forward to continuing to celebrate the communities they serve for years to come.  Incorporating those values, The Emerald Cup prides itself on bringing together experts and educators in the cannabis field, including fellow farmers, patients, and patrons at their annual two-day event in Northern California. It is a community celebration that has grown to become a global movement honoring the year’s finest, organic, sun-grown, medicinal cannabis harvest. In 2017, The Emerald Cup partnered with the premiere festival production company, Starr Hill Presents to produce their best year yet. North Bay Bohemian commented, “The Cup this year was grounded by a noticeable increase in production value, enhancing the overall experience for attendees and participants alike. It could be said that it left many of us floored, literally, as the dank fairground soil was covered by flooring in the vendor areas for the first time, warming both temperature and moods alike….It was abundantly clear that this festival is not only the finest but also the only of its kind in the annals of human history.”

Andrew Blap of Northern Nights states, “I’m very excited about the new partnership and taking Northern Nights Music Festival to higher levels. We couldn’t ask for more synergy between Tim Blake’s The Emerald Cup team and Coran Capshaw Starr Hill Presents’ team to continue to honor the history of the area and celebrate electronic music with the same production sensibilities for which we are known, while incorporating the Emerald Triangle community at a very challenging time with the new regulated cannabis market. The festival grounds have so much inherent beauty nestled within the redwoods on the banks of the river, it is a truly magical place and we are looking forward to throwing an amazing event.”

Taking place at the birthplace of California’s exciting and expanding cannabis economy, the new foraged partnership is setting the stage for Northern Nights’ best year to date. “We are very excited about partnering with Northern Nights Music Festival this year. The Northern Nights Stage at 2017 Emerald Cup was fantastic and we are looking to do the same for them,” comments Tim Blake, founder and co-producer of The Emerald Cup. Jim Lewi of Starr Hill Presents adds, “December’s Emerald Cup was a huge success and the Northern Nights stage added the perfect vibe with its ambiance and programming. The event proved that there was a lot of connection between the organizations and we are thrilled to partner in a more in-depth way for the 6th anniversary of Northern Nights.”

This year’s Northern Nights Festival favorites will return including:

The River Stage – Undoubtedly one of the most unique and exciting installments at Northern Nights, the River Stage hosts a day-long cast of diverse DJs throwing down an appropriate mixture of heavy and playful tunes to get the party started right by the water’s edge.

Yoga In The Redwoods –  The tranquil early morning calls to festival-goers looking to refresh and enlighten themselves under tall and majestic redwood trees which link their branches up to their peaks, building a natural canopy for any-level yogi to enjoy.

Grove and Bunker Stage – The redwoods come to life at night with performances, burlesque, and all-night surprises.

Glamping – Whether you are an experienced camper or prefer the comforts of home, Northern Nights offers a wide array of reserved, shaded glamping options to keep you rested, refreshed and comfortable throughout the weekend.

Tree Lounge – An exclusive, innovative and educational oasis in the center of the festival, the Tree Lounge provides information, interactive installations, refreshments, meet-and-greets with headliners and performances throughout the weekend. This year’s Tree Lounge will feature the best of the Emerald Triangle’s cannabis industry leaders who have been perfecting their craft and navigating the new market’s regulatory hurdles.
