Photos from night one of the 18th annual Electric Daisy Carnival. Once again, Insomniac welcomed a sold-out crowd to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway to discover a colorful world filled with stunning new art installations, captivating performers, and a mind-blowing, six-minute fireworks display that, for the first time, encircled the entire venue.

Insomniac debuted a dramatic new kineticFIELD stage featuring a cathedral theme that presented the DJ booth as a giant pipe organ, and flanked by two massive owls with outstretched wings. It is the largest stage in Insomniac history, spanning 440 feet wide and 80 feet tall. The structure features more than 1,000 lighting fixtures, 30 lasers, and requires 2.5 million watts of power.

For this year’s festival, 20 new and returning art installations were scattered throughout the grounds for fans to explore. With its whimsical, towering leaves, the Lilly Pond transported fans to a lush garden setting, while Hug Life’s three 10×10 boxes—ornately decorated—brought out the kid inside all of us.

In a new initiative designed to help keep the grounds of EDC beautiful, Insomniac and Global Inheritance set up the TRASHed recycling store. The interactive program encourages fans to bring renewable materials such as water bottles, cans and biodegradable cups to a designated collection area to earn points to purchase merchandise.

For the second year in a row, EDC welcomed all to bask in the spirit of love by providing the opportunity to get married within the magical world of the festival. Lovers were able to tie the knot or renew vows, while festival friends could celebrate their bond in non-legal commitment ceremonies. For the first time, wedding packages also included reception options, inviting newlyweds to commemorate the special occasion with a champagne toast and appetizers. A second package also gave the wedding party and their guests a choice of entrée from the VIP Dining Deck menu, along with a commemorative bottle of champagne for the bride and groom signed by the Insomniac team.

As a reminder, for those who are unable to join us Under the Electric Sky, Insomniac has partnered with 7UP for the first time to present curated content using 50 cameras throughout the festival grounds. Fans can catch some of the excitement from the festival by tuning intoinsomniac.com/curated from 8:30 p.m. PST to 8:30 a.m. PST each night.
