House of Yes is proud to announce their latest collaboration for Summer of Love with legendary West Coast Burners, DISTRIKT on Saturday, July 29 from 2pm-9pm (FREE before 3pm with RSVP) at the stunning outdoor Vander-Ende Onderdonk House in Ridgewood, Queens. Joining forces, House of Yes will host DISTRIKT’s New York fundraiser event as part of their annual tour with a star-studded DJ lineup for a day of sunshine, art, music, dancing, and fundraising.
Encouraging guests (who must be over 21 years old or be children under 12 years old accompanied by an adult) to arrive clad in their best Burner attire, revelers will be able to dance the day away. Local New York beatmasters The Scumfrog and Alex Cecil will play alongside the DISTRIKT star residents DJ Kramer, and Paul Geddes. Known for their daytime party vibes, the DISTRIKT event will be complemented by all of the usual House of Yes showstopping theatrics and interactions including an open circus jam, an aerial rig for those with experience, and a glitter and face painting station for attendees in need of some extra sparkle.
Proceeds from the event will go directly towards DISTRIKT’s efforts to build a massive new stage and art installation at Burning Man 2017 and they are thrilled to be providing their largest grant yet of $150,000 to artist Rob Bell of Zomadic. Having already raised over $83,000 through a Kickstarter campaign, DISTRIKT are this year evolving beyond a soundcamp and are placing a big focus on the art component in their bar and stage design. A long time Burner, Bell is well-known for his unique zonohedral architecture which has graced the grounds of North American festivals including Burning Man, EDC Las Vegas and Beyond Wonderland. Bell’s designs and installations are built in a fraction of the time of previous stages and require very few nails and screws making them exceptionally ‘leave no trace’ friendly, fitting together as a 3D jigsaw. Attending guests will be privy to a sneak peek of one of the ten zomes that will make up the installation.
Rounding out the day’s offerings are a selection of curated food (including vegan and vegetarian options) and retail vendors courtesy of Mama’s Bazaar as well as incredible live art presented by #NOMOREBLACKTARGETS which is aimed at eradicating the use of black targets at shooting ranges through art; works will also be on display by local artist Jeff Sullivan. Combining music and art, Summer of Love x DISTRIKT is the perfect warmup for those heading out West for the annual pilgrimage to Black Rock City in August and a chance to give back to the giving economy of the Playa.
The fun doesn’t stop at 9pm as the DISTRIKT party vibes continue back at House of Yes headquarters at 2 Wyckoff Ave, Bushwick for the official Neon Nights after party through until 4am. Summer of Love stamp holders are eligible for discounted entry ($10 at the door before 11pm) for this neon, UV and fluorescent themed (costumes required) event featuring light installations, a cuddle puddle, neon beauty parlor, and body painting. On the decks will be DISTRIKT residents Ben Seagren, Darren Grayson, and John Early, joined by their friends Carol Ferraz & A-Kintero, Tal Ohana, Gavin Stephenson & Iman Rizky, Kellam, and Timka as well as special guests stopping by all night.
