Where better to experience a life-affirming cocktail of music, culture and inimitable natural beauty?

Add this to the list of reasons you should be at this year’s Sónar Reykjavík: Iceland is an extraordinary country bursting with stunning scenery, a delightful (Nordic) cuisine undergoing a rebirth, a thriving art scene, cutting edge music festivals and a rich and varied culture.

HARPA CONCERT HOUSE

Sónar was founded in Barcelona in 1994 by Ricard Robles, Enric Palau, and Sergi Caballero. The core of its ideals is to merge creativity and technology; provide an inimitable haven for seasoned veterans and upcoming electronic music artists, surging state-of-the-art musical and audiovisual production and experimentation.

The astonishingly designed Harpa Concert House by the harbor is an intimate space with a total capacity of 3500. With the arctic winter outside, Harpa provides a matchless atmosphere and is one of Europe’s most unique. Every year since its inception 4 years ago, Sónar Reykjavik has sold out the Harpa Concert House.

THE DIVERSE LINEUP

Every year, Sónar Reykjavík puts together an incredibly diverse lineup and this year is no different. Delivering another stellar group of international and local talent, from globetrotting superstars, techno titans, to prolific new acts, and Iceland’s burgeoning rap music scene. Fatboy Slim, Moderat, De La Soul, Giggs, GusGus, Sleigh Bells, Forest Swords, Tommy Genesis, Ben Klock, B.Traits, Helena Hauff, Blawan b2b Exos, Nadia Rose, Samaris, BEA1991, Hendrik and Reynir, Moff & Tarkin, Borg Ltd’s Áskell, Terrordisco, KrBear, TRPTYCH., Kerr Wilson + more. THE RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY

Red Bull Music Academy returns to Sónar Reykjavík for the third consecutive year, hosting its own stage, SonarComplex boasting a hand-picked selection of trailblazing talent, many of them alumni of previous Academy editions–a mixture of local and international talent.  Academy alumnus and hip-hop veteran Oddisee, techno genius Dominick Fernow under his Vatican Shadow guise, as well as Pan DaijingMarie Davidson and Johan Carøe – the most recent grads from the acclaimed Red Bull Music Academy in Montréal.

Representing Iceland’s electrifying music scene, SonarComplex will feature the debut solo performance of Örvar Smárason from múm and FM Belfast, new hip-hop wunderkinds HRNNR x Smjörvi and electronic master composer SiGRÚN amongst many others.

Reykjavík

Hailed for its charm, culture, historic Reykjavík is undoubtedly the gateway to Iceland. Day adventures abound from trips to the surrounding mountains, glaciers, volcanos and hot springs. Day excursions from the city capital include glacier climbing, whale watching, horseback riding, caving and more adventures one can handle. Head into town, experience the city’s museums, theaters, galleries, cafés, and geothermal swimming pools, filled with lively locals. The surging food scene is proud to serve fresh local ingredients ranging from seafood, wild game and lamb. Working an appetite talking about it.
