Black Coffee Announces Forthcoming Album Pieces of Me
South Africa’s internationally renowned DJ and multi award winning producer Black Coffee is here with his highly anticipated album Pieces of Me, out August 26th on Ultra Music. The 12-track album features a collection of melodies and rhythms that reflect his classic, soulful style while pushing musical boundaries. The album is just over an hour and a half long, taking you along a joyous path paved with organic instrumentation, driving beats, and stirring vocals.
The intro sets the theme for the rest of the album with emotionally charged spoken word from Lebo Mashile. As the album progresses the tempo picks up, incorporating elements of house music and souring vocals from artists like Azola, Portia Monique, Mondli Ngcobo and Cara Frew. As the album progresses into proper dance, “Stuck In Your Love” brings listeners to their feet. The single “Come with Me” features vocals from Mque and offers a journey through strings interlaced with jazzy percussion. On “We Dance Again,” Black Coffee provides heavy kicks that are evened out with the much softer inflections of singer Nakhane Tour, who provides empowering lyrics and harmonies. Pieces Of Me ends with “I Will Find You”, a track to help ease your mind at the end of the journey. The vocals of the talented Cara Frew tie the theme and aesthetic of the album together.
With 3 award-winning albums under his belt, South African electronic artist Black Coffee has been producing his brand of eclectic and soulful house for over a decade. In 2016, he performed at both Coachella and Ultra Music Festival in addition to being awarded Best International Act: Africa at the BET Awards. Throughout the years he has continued to refine his sophisticated sound as well as selecting a diverse array of superior vocalists to collaborate with and showcase.
